The AI Preceptor was designed to answer those questions and help people work through them, with practical skills, healthcare-relevant examples, troubleshooting, and support.

There are a lot of tools, features, and ways to use AI, and they will keep changing. You do not have to learn them all.
Instead, you can build skills that transfer across tools and tasks. Those skills help you adapt as AI changes and know what to try next, without being tied to one tool, one prompt, or one way of doing things.

Access is not the same as approval. Learn what questions to ask about workplace policies, approved tools, information use, training, and who can help you find the answers.
A good prompt is important. The AI Preceptor also focuses on reviewing the response, troubleshooting when something is not working, and using your judgment throughout the process.
An AI response is only useful if you know what to do with it. The next step may involve Word, Excel, PowerPoint, file management, or another digital tool, so supporting digital skills are part of the process too.
The goal is not to turn you into an AI cheerleader or a tech expert. The goal is to show you how AI can realistically support your work, how to get better results when you use it, what to question, and when something other than AI may be the better answer.
The AI Preceptor is for nurses and healthcare professionals at different stages of learning and using AI. You may be new to it, skeptical about where it fits, already using it, or helping others use it in your role or workplace.
The resources and support are designed to help you understand where AI can fit into the work you do, build practical skills, and get more comfortable using it across different tasks and tools.
You do not need to be a tech person or have advanced technical experience.
Safety and accuracy are built throughout The AI Preceptor’s guidance. The content draws on guidance from nursing and other healthcare professional organizations, government agencies, regulatory and standards bodies, and interprofessional groups.
Because policies and approved tools differ by workplace, the guidance includes reminders to check and follow what applies in each setting. It also reinforces protecting sensitive information, reviewing and verifying AI responses, using professional judgment, and considering when AI may not be appropriate for the task.
AI tools, features, and guidance will continue to change. The AI Preceptor focuses on practical skills that can transfer across tools, tasks, and changes in AI.
Resources are dated to show when the information was created or reviewed. Some are live resources that are updated over time, and the guidance also includes prompts, links, and other ways to find and check current information.
